Languages are spoken in Panama and the importance of learning English in our country

 -Languages spoken in Panama-

Panama is an incredibly diverse country, that means that there’s people from all around the world speaking multiple languages. Officially, as of 2008 there were at least 19 languages that were spoken in Panama, but the official language is Spanish and it was spoken by 2 100 000 inhabitants. Some of the languages spoken in Panama are Kuna, Ngäbere, Emberá and Teribe which were all spoken by indigenous groups. Some others are Korean, Arabic, Cantonese, Italian and Japanese.



-Importance of learning english in Panama-

English was also spoken by Panamanian inhabitants, and it is the most taught language in Panamanian schools. English has a history in Panama because of the close political relationship between Panama and USA during the separation of Panama and Colombia and the occupation of Americans in the Panama Canal. English was introduced to Panama by the American citizens that worked in the Panama Canal Zone, which hired Panamanians to work for them. English was considered important by Panamanians helped them to get more jobs thanks to their international trade and better education opportunities.
